Coverage
QanoonX indexes all federal acts and ordinances, the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, the four provincial statute books (Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan), the Islamabad Capital Territory laws, and major statutory instruments and notifications — 3,929 statutes and instruments in total at time of writing.
QanoonX currently indexes 66,905 reported judgments from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, all five High Courts (Lahore, Sindh, Peshawar, Islamabad, Balochistan), and the Federal Shariat Court. The corpus is updated regularly as new reported judgments are released.
Yes. You can search and cite in the standard Pakistani reported formats, including PLD (Pakistan Legal Decisions), YLR (Yearly Law Reporter), SCMR (Supreme Court Monthly Review), MLD (Monthly Law Digest), CLC (Civil Law Cases), and PCrLJ (Pakistan Criminal Law Journal). Every answer includes the citation QanoonX used.
The QanoonX interface is currently English. Where reported judgments are in Urdu, QanoonX retrieves the original text; the AI layer is optimised for English queries and answers at this stage. Full Urdu search and answers are on the roadmap.
Usage
No. QanoonX is a research and drafting assistant. It surfaces the relevant statute and case law and helps you draft documents from templates, but it does not replace the judgment of a qualified advocate on your specific facts. For contentious matters, always consult a practising lawyer.
Cite the underlying statute and judgment, not the answer itself. Every QanoonX response includes verifiable citations — pull up the original source, confirm it, and cite it in your pleadings or submissions in the usual way.
Reported judgments are ingested on a rolling basis. The lag between a judgment being reported and appearing in QanoonX is typically a few weeks. The exact "last updated" date for any result is shown next to each citation.
Yes. Pro-plan users have access to professionally crafted templates for writ petitions under Article 199, legal notices, plaints, written statements, bail applications, and more. You customise the draft, export as PDF or DOCX, and hand it to your lawyer for signature.
